Members and Exhibitors are requested to pay strict attention to all rules as they will be adhered to by the Officers of the Society.

From each member taking prize money to the value of $3.00 or over the Treasurer will deduct $3.00 for next year’s membership.

No more than one entry may be made by any one person in any one section except HORSES, CATTLE, SHEEP, GOATS, RABBITS, POULTRY, VEGETABLES, POTATOES and FLOWERS.

While the Directors will take every precaution possible to ensure the safety of articles sent to the Fair, it must be strictly understood that the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting them.  Any articles being accidentally injured, lost or stolen, the Directors, while giving every assistance in their power toward the recovery of the same, will not make payment or be held responsible.

ALL WORK MUST BE THAT OF THE PERSON EXHIBITING.  Proof will be requested where there is a question.  If the article is found not to be the work of the exhibitor, the person will be asked to remove his or her exhibits from the Fairgrounds for that year.  All prize money will be forfeited.

ALL WORK MUST BE NEW AND NOT WORN UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.

Every animal exhibited at any exhibition of the Society shall be the bona fide property of the Exhibitor one month before entry can be made.  All fruit, garden produce, roots and flowers (except arrangements) must be grown by the exhibitor.  Check class rules for any exceptions.

No animal or articles exhibited shall have about it any prize or card until after the judging of the articles or animals of each class.
Any person who shall attempt to interfere with the judge while in the discharge of their duties or shall afterwards on the premises of the Society, use any contemptuous or abusive language to any judge in consequence of any award made by him or her shall forfeit their right to any premiums to which they may be otherwise entitled and shall be excluded for one year thereafter.  JUDGES ARE REQUESTED TO REPORT ANY BREACH OF THIS RULE.

EACH EXHIBITOR MUST HAVE HIS OR HER OWN MEMBERSHIP.

Any prize recommended by the Judges which is not advertised in the Prize List will not necessarily be awarded.

Should there be only one exhibit in a class or section Judges may use discretion in awarding prizes and no prize will be awarded unless the Judge considers the exhibit worthy.

Admission to the Grounds: Adults $5.00 or Weekend Pass $8.00 each, Seniors and Students (13-18) $3.00 and Children 12 and under free.

Cars must be parked in the space provided by the Directors and may not be driven over the Fairgrounds outside the Parking Area.

The Society reserves the right to deduct the amount offered in Prize Money if necessary to meet any emergencies that may arise.

In several classes trophies have been added to a prize.  The trophies will be presented at Award’s Night.  All trophies remain the property of the Charlton Agricultural Society unless otherwise specified as a keeper trophy.  Trophies are to be returned at the Fair in the following year.

Trophies will only be awarded where there are two or more entries in the class.

The Director in charge of the individual classes may advise an exhibitor to compete in the section in the opinion of the Judges, the entry properly belongs and also have the power to amend an entry at the request of an exhibitor.

Where two members of one family exhibit in any class, proof may be required that exhibits were made or cared for by the Exhibitor.

All prize money not collected by December 31 of the same year will be forfeited to the Society.

ENTRY TAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 11:30 A.M. ONLY ON THE DAY OF JUDGING.  ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE PLACED IN THEIR SECTIONS BY 12:00 P.M., on the first day of the Fair.  The exhibits must not be removed until 4:00 p.m., on the last day of the Fair.  All livestock must be on the Grounds no later than 10:00 a.m. on the day they are to be shown.

The Society will furnish guards for the duration of the Fair.

All baking must be at least 12 hours old.  Entries should be shown on small trays and be placed in a freezer bag, please fasten entry tags so they will not fall off.

EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO TABULATE THEIR PRIZES AND SUBMIT THEM IMMEDIATELY TO THE SECRETARY AFTER THE FAIR.

Directors reserve the right to substitute all merchandise for cash.

Owners must be on hand to show their livestock at the time specified for their classes.  Poultry and Rabbits must have entry tags for each class entered.

Members are requested to tag all entries carefully and conspicuously.  This will greatly help in correctly placing the articles.

In the case of a tie for Special Prizes, the exhibitor with the most first prizes in that section will receive the prize.  If there is a tie for first place, exhibitors will split the prize

While the judging is taking place, only Judges and Directors will be allowed in the buildings.

Any horse or pony being ridden outside the Horse Show area during the show will be expelled from the Fairgrounds.

The rent paid for a concession or booth is for rent only.  It does not allow workers in free of charge.

All Dogs on fairgrounds should be kept on a leash at all times.

 

ANY EXHIBITOR LODGING A COMPLAINT MUST DO SO IN WRITING AND DELIVER IT TO THE SECRETARY WITHIN SEVEN DAYS OF THE CLOSE OF THE FAIR.  IT MUST PLAINLY STATE THE CAUSE OF THE COMPLAINT OR APPEAL AND MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A DEPOSIT OF $50.00 WHICH WILL BE FORFEITED TO THE SOCIETY IF THE PROTEST IS SUSTAINED.  ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
